ArtScapades: Masters of Rococo
ArtScapades, a five-part art lecture program made possible through a sponsorship from the Friends of the New Canaan Library, concludes on Monday, May 13, with Part 5: "Masters of Rococo." The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.
“Masters of Rococo” will look at the lighter side of 18th century High Baroque art, leaving the art world at the dawn of the 19th century. This final lecture includes works by Watteau, Fragonard, Boucher, Hogarth, Gainsborough, and Reynolds.
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades will moderate the series. They began teaching art appreciation in 1998 in the New Canaan public school system. In 2009, they began sharing their knowledge with adults who wanted to learn the basics of art to make museum trips more enjoyable. The New Canaan Library is welcoming them back for a fourth time.
