Authors on Stage with Lee Woodruff
[August 2012]—New Canaan Library is pleased to announce that New York Times best-selling author Lee Woodruff will visit the Library on Tuesday, October 2 to introduce her first fictional work, Those We Love the Most. Ms. Woodruff is best known for In an Instant, her inspirational account of what she and husband Bob Woodruff withstood and transcended, following Bob’s traumatic brain injury suffered during an explosion in Iraq when he was co-anchor of ABC’s World News Tonight. The event is co-sponsored by Elm Street Books and will take place at 7:00 pm in the Adrian Lamb Room.
Those We Love the Most captures the tenuous – and fragile – nature of happy family life. Maura Costigan knows she has it good. Living in a peaceful Chicago suburb with her parents nearby, married to her college sweetheart Pete, and with three young, healthy children, the future couldn’t look brighter. Then, one beautiful June day, a split-second distraction and a single twist of fate send her world into a tailspin and a family is forever changed. Woodruff explores how differently we deal with adversity – Maura tries to move forward, while Pete, resorts to escape rather than deal with the flaws in his marriage. Those We Love the Most is a deeply insightful, thought-provoking story that explores family dynamics and the tests of love, loyalty and family ties.
