Please join Teen Services Librarian Cheryl Capitani and Children's Librarian Cathy Townsend for a discussion of the young readers' version of our One Book New Canaan selection, Revenge of the Whale.  JJ Jameson, Senior Instructor from REI's Outdoor School, will be there to teach students some survival skills!  Students are welcome to come even if they haven't read the book.

JJ Jameson has been an outdoor educator since 1982.  He teaches Rock and Ice Climbing, Winter Mountaineering, Nordic Skiing, Snowshoeing, Backpacking, Camping, Navigation, Paddling and Cycling.  He currently lives in Norwalk CT with his wife, daughter and two dogs.

Revenge of the Whale, the author-adapted young readers' version of In the Heart of the Sea, is the true story of the 1820 tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, in which a whale attacked the Essex and left its crew of 20 stranded in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for 3 months in three small whaleboats.  Only 8 survived.  Author Nathaniel Philbrick brings the history and travails of this event to life in this enthralling narrative nonfiction book.
