The Friends of New Canaan Library Book Sale, dedicated to the memory of long-time volunteer John Randolph, is the Friends’ principal fundraising activity, which raises money for a variety programs at the Library, including Summer Reading programs for children, art exhibits, film discussions, and the popular Notes in MidWinter concerts.
Book sale chair, PatThatcher, welcomes individuals wishing to volunteer their time to help at the sale. The committee works regularly on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Said Pat, “We want to build a group of volunteers to do the work leading up to the book sale and a group of friends who enjoy books and each other's company.”
Volunteers are also needed the week before the sale to assist with set up, as well as on the days of the sale.
The Friends will begin accepting book donations for the next sale beginning April 15, 2013. Gently-used books, DVDs, music CDs can be brought to the Library during normal hours of operation.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Library’s volunteer coordinator, Indu Arya, at 203-594-5003, or by emailing iarya@newcanaanlibrary.org
