New Graphic Novels for September

Here's a selection of some of our newest titles -- be sure to look for more of your favorites at our new location in the YA area!!







WE3 -- With nervous systems amplified to match their terrifying mechanical exoskeletons, the members of Animal Weapon 3 (WE3) have the firepower of a battalion between them. But they are just the program's prototypes, and now that their testing is complete, they're slated to be permanently "decommissioned," causing them to seize their one chance to make a desperate run for freedom. Relentlessly pursued by their makers, the WE3 team must navigate a frightening and confusing world where their instincts and heightened abilities make them as much a threat as those hunting them - but a world, nonetheless, in which somewhere there is something called "home."

Americus -- Oklahoma teen Neal Barton stands up for his favorite fantasy series, The Chronicles of Apathea Ravenchilde, when conservative Christians try to bully the town of Americus into banning it from the public library.




Halo : fall of reach. Bootcamp -- Six-year-old John is taken away from his family and sent, along with seventy-four other children, to the planet Reach, where they are trained in the SPARTAN-II program to be supersoldiers loyal to the United Nations Space Command.




Blue exorcist. Volume 3 -- As a new Exorcist esquire at True Cross Academy. Rin Okumura has a long way to go before he reaches the top rank of Paladin. When Rin and his classmates are sent to search for a ghost. Amaimon, King of Earth, takes Rin by surprise and steals the Koma sword, Higher powers have been observing events at the Academy and make their presence known. New players enter the game, and Rin doesn't even know he's playing.



Sense and sensibility -- Presents, in graphic novel format, a tale of English country manners in which two sisters, one sensible and one impulsive, wrestle with their attractions to unsuitable men after they are forced to leave their family home following the death of their father.




Batman : Bruce Wayne : the road home -- Between escaping death and conquering time, Gotham City's original Dark Knight Detective has been away from his hometown for far too long. Now that he has returned, however, he finds that the world is very different from the one he used to know.




Bride's story -- Amir is twenty years old when she marries her husband, a boy named Karluk from a neighboring village. Adjusting to life in a new household can be trying for any young bride, but Amir's husband is eight years her junior! Amir was a strong, sophisticated hunter and horsewoman in her village, but though their villages were next to each other, their customs are very different. As Amir introduces Karluk to the foods and pastimes that were popular among her comrades back home, the warmth she feels for her young husband grows.


Jericho : Season 3. Vol. 1, Civil war -- Continues the story line from the cancelled television program Jericho, about a series nuclear detonations that disrupt American life and a sinister new government that emerges in the aftermath.




Steve Rogers, super-soldier -- Originally a 90-pound weakling from New York City's Lower East Side, Steve Rogers was transformed into Captain America by the legendary super-soldier serum -- shortly before the formula was lost, seemingly forever. But now, years later, the grandson of the treatment's creator has rediscovered the serum and plans to sell it to the highest bidder. Suddenly, Rogers is confronted with the possibility of a world overrun by super-soldiers, in which any despot willing to pony up the cash could have his very own unstoppable army. Can Rogers prevent the formula from changing hands before it's too late?


Dracula -- Graphic novel adaptation of the Bram Stoker classic, in which young Jonathan Harker first meets and then must destroy Count Dracula in order to save those closest to him.




Bakuman. Vol. 6, Recklessness and guts -- Moritaka and Akito's hard work is paying off, and they start challenging their rival Eiji's popularity in Shonen Jump. But just as they plan the next step, the team is hit with a surprising setback. Moritaka and Akito will need the help of their manga artist friends to overcome this hurdle!




George R. R. Martin's Fevre dream -- Set in 1857 along the muddy Mississippi, Fevre Dream introduces Abner Marsh, a remarkably ugly man who longs to captain the fastest steamboat on the river. When a pale, mysterious gentleman named Joshua--who keeps strange hours and stranger friends--approaches him with an offer of partnership, Abner's dreams appear to come true...though he may have unleashed a nightmare on the unsuspecting shores!



Green Lantern: emerald warriors -- Honor Lantern Guy Gardner has never played by anyone's rules. But even for a Green Lantern whose name is synonymous with rebellion, this time he may have gone too far. But a Lantern is never alone, and Guy soon finds himself with two more partners in tow -- Green Lanterns Kilowog and Arisia, each with their own reason for going where no Lantern has gone before. And when Gardner's mission, Arisia's search for the lost Lantern Sodam Yat and Kilowog's sense of honor collide, the explosion will ignite a War of Green Lanterns.


Ender's game (graphic novel). Speaker for the dead -- Ender Wiggin was 12 years old when he destroyed an alien race. Burdened with guilt, he wrote Speaker for the Dead and created a pseudo-religion that spanned the known worlds. Now an adult, Ender is called to investigate a murder committed by a new alien species with a seemingly gruesome nature. Can he uncover the truth before another species and more human lives are lost?



The Griff : a graphic novel -- The mayhem begins when an ancient alien beacon is unwittingly activated, summoning behemoth spaceships from the far reaches of the galaxy. Destroying communications, emergency, and military infrastructure, they systematically kill everyone on the planet. Well, almost everyone. A pesky trio of New Yorkers isn't about to roll out the red carpet or roll over and die for these unwelcome intergalactic marauders.



Lucky star. Volume 4 -- Continues the adventures of high school girls, anime-obsessed Konata, brilliant Miyuki, tough but shy Kagami, and klutzy Tsukasa.




Generation Hope. Vol. 1, The future's a four letter word -- When Hope Summers returned from the future, she triggered the rebirth of the mutant gene, but the five mutants that activated this way grew chaotic and dangerous powers that nearly killed them. With Rogue and four of the five new mutants, Hope heads to Japan to join Cyclops, Wolverine, and the fifth mutant, but will the last one be a hero or villain?



Morning glories. Vol. 1, For a better future -- Morning Glory Academy is one of the most prestigious prep schools in the country, but something sinister and deadly lurks behind its walls. When six gifted but troubled new students arrive, they find themselves trapped and fighting for their lives as the secrets of the academy reveal themselves!



Oliver Twist -- Oliver Twist's life has been a hard and desperate one. Resistance. Book 2, Defiance -- In 1943, as the German occupation of France continues, the Tessier siblings increase their involvement in the Resistance while staying out of the way of the Millice, the Vichy military police. Includes facts about Charles De Gaulle and his support of resistance movements.
