Katherine Nichols will talk about her book, Deep Water, due to be published by Simon True (an imprint of Simon & Schuster), this May. Though she now lives in CT, Katherine grew up in Coronado, CA. She always heard the myths and rumors of the infamous Coronado Company, a $100 million dollar global drug cartel that got its start in her hometown, and was determined to understand its history. This book tells the story of the real teenage surfers from California who started swimming drugs from Mexico to the US, the Spanish teacher who helped them grow their empire, and how it all came crashing down.
Nichols is currently earning a Master’s of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree at Yale School of Management. Deep Water is her first book. She was particularly fascinated by the Coronado Company founders’ negotiation and operational skills, as well as their ring leader’s charisma and vision.
