Learn about the rich history of the nearby Silvermine neighborhood and artist colony. Local author Samuel Schmitt will present a talk and slide show on the history of Silvermine based on his book, Silvermine, part of the “Images of America” series printed by Arcadia Publishing. He will trace the history of the neighborhood with special emphasis on the early Silvermine artists.

Samuel Schmitt is the grandson of the painter Carl Schmitt, who was one of the early members of the Silvermine artist colony. He is also the Director of the Carl Schmitt Foundation in Wilton, which is dedicated to the legacy of Carl Schmitt and the early Silvermine artists.
