October 29 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Location: Lamb Room

Jeff Fager, executive producer of 60 Minutes, will go behind the scenes to reveal the secrets of the program’s success as he presents his book Fifty Years of 60 Minutes.

Fifty Years of 60 Minutes tells the inside story of the legendary program, from its almost accidental birth through five decades of in-depth reporting. Jeff zeroes in on the stories that changed history–from the tobacco industry expose to the revelatory interview with scandal–plagued Bill Clinton-the ones that set the standard in nonfiction storytelling, what the program learned from its mistakes, and the human drama that made it all possible.

Jeff Fager is in his 14th season as the executive producer of 60 Minutes, America’s most-watched and honored news program. The former 60 Minutes producer was chosen to lead the broadcast in 2004 and promptly refocused it on more timely and relevant stories as he guided it into the digital age. Jeff has covered the news around the world at each level of his distinguished career. As producer and then senior producer of “The CBS Evening News,” he reported on the presidential campaign of 1984; the collapse of the Soviet Union and the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe; the Reagan-Gorbachev Summits; the bombing of Libya in 1986; the death of the Japanese emperor; conflicts in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan; the Palestinian Intifada in 1988; the Iraq-Iran War; the Persian Gulf War; the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the War in Bosnia.

The lecture begins at 2:30pm and will be preceded by a light reception at 2pm.
