Author Stacy Schiff joins us at the Library's 4th Annual Literary Luncheon to talk about her most recent book, Cleopatra: A Life, at 11:30 a.m on Thursday, September 22, at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.
In addition to Cleopatra, Ms. Schiff is also the author of Véra (Mrs. Vladimir Nabokov), winner of the Pulitzer Prize; Saint-Exupéry, a Pulitzer Prize finalist; and, A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America, the winner of several awards. These three were all New York Times Notable Books; Cleopatra: A Life was named one of the 10 best books of 2010 by The New York Times.
Schiff has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities and was a Director’s Fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. She was awarded a 2006 Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Schiff has written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and The Boston Globe, among other publications. She lives in New York City.
The fall lunch benefit with Stacy Schiff will be held at the Woodway Country Club in Darien this year to accommodate this annual event’s growing popularity. Tickets are $85 each; Sphinx Sponsor tickets at $175 include a lisitng in the program; tables of 10 are $1,000 and all include a tax-deductible contribution.
