5th Annual Literary Luncheon with Sally Bedell Smith
New Canaan Library welcomed New York Times best-selling author Sally Bedell Smith, guest speaker for the Library’s 5th Anniversary Literary Luncheon, on September 13, 2012. The Library was honored to welcome back Ms. Smith, who was the featured speaker at the Library’s inaugural Literary Luncheon. Her most recent release is Elizabeth the Queen: The Life of a Modern Monarch. Exhaustively researched and a highly compelling biography , Elizabeth the Queen offers a fascinating, intimate look into the private and public life of Queen Elizabeth II, perhaps the most famous monarch of the modern world.
Sally Bedell Smith is the acclaimed author of the best-selling biographies of international leaders and figures, William S. Paley; Pamela Harriman; Diana, Princess of Wales; John and Jacqueline Kennedy; Bill and Hillary Clinton; and Queen Elizabeth II. A contributing editor at Vanity Fair since 1996, Ms. Smith previously worked at Time magazine and The New York Times, where she was a cultural news reporter. She was awarded a Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service Award for magazine reporting in 1982, and she was a fellow at the Freedom Forum Media Studies Center in 1986.
New Canaan Library’s Annual Literary Luncheon has become the most anticipated social event on the Library’s calendar since it began just five years ago. This wonderful gathering is the perfect place to hear from a renowned author and catch up with friends after the summer, while supporting the Library. The 5th Anniversary Literary Luncheon will be held Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Woodway Country Club, 540 Hoyt Street, Darien, CT.
