Authors on Stage - Jim Citrin

Category: Authors
Location: Adrian Lamb Room

All the credentials in the world are meaningless if the person hired to fill a vital leadership position is the wrong fit for the organization.  James Citrin, an executive search expert with extensive experience, will appear at New Canaan Library to discuss his book You Need a Leader – Now What? Citrin will speak as part of the Authors on Stage series on Monday, December 12th at 7:30 pm. The event is co-sponsored by the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce and the Business Leadership Seminar Series. It will take place in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room.

Based on decades of experience at Spencer Stuart, the gold standard in executive search, Citrin knows that finding the right leader for the job means going beyond an impressive resume or following conventional wisdom. Whether it’s a top CEO position or a key leadership role in finance or technology, Citrin points out that a ‘superstar’ might not be the most effective leader in the long run. Citrin and co-author Daum use case studies, including New York Public Library’s search for the right president to go forward, to illustrate how to navigate the tricky terrain in today’s challenging and competitive employment market.

James M. Citrin is a member of Spencer Stuart’s board of directors and co-leads its CEO and board practice. He works with clients in the fields of technology, media, communications and consumer products, as well as multinational corporations and private-equity firms. A noted expert on leadership and professional success, Citrin is the author or co-author of five other books in addition to his latest release.
