Authors on Stage Welcomes Sara Nelson

The New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome our special Summer Read 2011 guest – Sara Nelson. Ms. Nelson is currently the book editor for O, The Oprah Magazine and is the former editor-in-chief of Publisher's Weekly. She will join us in sharing some great books, including her own, So Many Books, So Little Time.

Ms. Nelson is a respected figure in the publishing industry and is currently Books Editor at O, the Oprah Magazine. Nelson is notable for having been, from 2005 – 2009, editor in chief of Publisher’s Weekly, the industry's chief trade publication. She has been widely credited with overhauling and rejuvenating the 135-year old magazine, both from a visual and editorial perspective. Her views on the industry have been reported in such major publications as The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Prior to heading up Publisher’s Weekly, Nelson wrote for a wide variety of publications, including a publishing column for the New York Observer and reviews for publications ranging from Glamour to the Chicago Tribune. She has appeared on television broadcasts and written for the Huffington Post and the Wall Street Journal on important trends in the publishing industry. Nelson is an avid reader and a life-long lover of books.

A native of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Nelson is a graduate of Phillips Academy and Yale University, where she majored in Latin American Studies.
