Author Jamie Cat Callan will visit New Canaan Library  on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to introduce  her latest book, Ooh La La: French Women’s Secrets to Feeling Beautiful Every Day. Ms. Callahan writes from personal experience and has published two other books on French women and their lifestyle. This event is co-sponsored by Elm Street Books and promises to be an engaging and lively evening.

It is widely recognized that French women possess not only a keen sense of style and beauty but a remarkable joie de vivre as well. And, these qualities belong not just to the young. Some of France’s most celebrated women are indeed women “of a certain age.” Though these attributes seem to come naturally to French women, fear not, Jamie asserts in Ooh La La - all women can learn how they, too, can possess these qualities. Growing up with a French grand-mère to instruct her on style, grooming, and genuinely liking her reflection in the mirror, Jamie now shares that wisdom along with advice from other French women on creating beauty and happiness – both inside and out.

Jamie Cat Callan is an American who grew up under the tutelage of her mysterious and elegant French grandmother. She's traveled to France many times and interviewed hundreds of French women (and more than a few men) to find out their secrets to love, romance, marriage and how they keep their ooh la la! Jamie is the author of two other books on French women, and of The Writer’s Toolbox: Creative Games and Exercises for Inspiring the “Write” Side of Your Brain. Jamie's essay on how she met and married her husband appeared in the New York Times Sunday Styles "Modern Love" column. She's a popular speaker on women's issues, love, marriage and leading a creative life.
