Artist and photographer Karin Hillmer has published a unique and extraordinary book of photographs inspired by the short stories of Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges.

The concept and experience of time have long been important to artist Karin Hillmer. Her interest in the topic of time led her to explore the renowned works of Argentine poet and writer Jorge Luis Borges. His enigmatic works of fiction have contributed to the literary genres of science fiction and magic realism, and from them Hillmer was inspired to create the intricate and hauntingly beautiful photographs that visually explore the concepts of time and infinity – in the context of dreams and reality. Infinity & Dreams features 45 high quality color plates of Hillmer’s photographs and inspirational text from Borges for each image, with a forward by Professor Andrew Hurley.

Karin Hillmer was born, raised and educated in Germany. After finishing university she relocated to London, where the many art galleries and museums led to a reconnection with her earlier interest in art. She moved to New York via London to study Art History and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York (SUNY Purchase). It was at this point she developed her own collage-style within the medium of photography. Hillmer completed numerous post-graduate studies in various disciplines, which combined with her knowledge of technology and biotechnology brings novel concepts and developments to her work. Her work has been shown internationally in museums and galleries, with solo exhibitions in Germany, France and the United States. Karin’s work can be found in numerous private collections throughout the world.
