College Essay Writing Workshop

Category: Classes and Workshops
Location: Adrian Lamb Room

At the core of the increasingly complicated college admissions process is the all-important college essay.  To help students understand what admissions officers are really looking for, and the best way to say it, educator Bill Peltz will speak at New Canaan Library on Thursday, October 17, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Library’s Adrian Lamb Room.

Mr. Peltz will cover all aspects of the college essay process, using real writing prompts to illustrate how to write a compelling and powerful essay appropriate to the admissions process.  Students are guided through each step of the process.   This presentation is appropriate for both students and their parents.  Following the talk there will be an opportunity for questions from the audience.

Bill Peltz has more than 40 years experience teaching in the classroom, and is the founder and director of SOAR for Success LLC, a personalized Education Resource Provider. He coaches students as they apply to schools and colleges, prepares them for such high-stake tests as the SATs and SSATs, and helps them develop effective learning skills.  His extensive publication list includes Dear Teacher: Expert Advice for Effective Study Skills.  He talks with parent and teacher groups about what brain science tells us about adolescent behavior and learning.
