Developing Your Charitable Giving Strategy

On Tuesday, September 24, the Library will host a presentation by HTG Investment Advisors Inc. of New Canaan.  HTG will present an educational panel on the topic of charitable giving. The event will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by the panel discussion at 7:00 p.m.  At the conclusion of the panel there will be time allowed for questions and answers.

Key areas that will be discussed include:
• Donor advised charitable gift funds
• Developing your own charitable giving strategy
• Involving your family in a discussion about charity
• Tax smart giving
• Giving and estate planning

Careful planning is important because it can help individuals devise a more effective giving strategy for their unique circumstances and charitable goals.  An objective of the discussion will be to help individuals expand their understanding of charitable gift accounts, one of many planning tools available for charitable gifting. 

Panelists for the discussion are David Brosnan, CAP ® Fidelity Charitable; Janice Kunst, CPA, Reynolds & Rowella LLP; and  Lawrence Mannix, Attorney, Whitman Breed, Abbott & Morgan LLC. HTG will participate with an introduction by Robin Sherwood, CFP®, Executive Vice President of HTG Investment Advisors Inc.  Valerie H. Connolly, CFA, Senior Investment Advisor with HTG will serve as moderator.
