Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough

Category: Authors on Stage
Location: Adrian Lamb Room

DUE TO THE STORM, THIS PROGRAM WILL BE RESCHEDULED FOR A DATE IN NOVEMBER. Top television news journalist Mika Brzezinski is co-host of MSNBC’s morning news program Morning Joe,  and author of the bestselling personal narrative All Things at Once. Brzezinski will appear on a date to be determined at the New Canaan Library to speak about her newest release, Knowing Your Value: Women, Money and Getting What You’re Worth. Joining Brzezinski and interviewing her will be co-host and New Canaan resident, Joe Scarborough. The event is co-sponsored by Elm Street Books and will take place in the Adrian Lamb Room.

Despite great strides in the last few decades the fact remains that a woman’s value and her financial compensation in the work place still lags considerably behind her male counterpart’s.  In Knowing Your Value, Brzezinski presents an in-depth exploration of how women today manage to achieve the recognition and financial worth they deserve

Largely prompted by her own experience as co-host of Morning Joe, Brzezinski has written a compelling book that is a “must-read” for women of all ages and all professions. In Brzezinski’s signature style of brutal honesty blended with wit, Knowing Your Value mixes personal stories with the hard facts and latest research on issues such as equal pay, access to funding and startup capital, and women in the boardroom.
Brzezinski provides fascinating reading through interviews with prominent women from a wide spectrum of industries, among them comedian Susie Essman, writer and director Nora Ephron, Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg, and broadcaster Joy Behar. While examining the challenges these women had to overcome Brzezinski also looks at the male perspective.
