Friends of the Library

The Friends of the New Canaan Library is a dedicated group of men and women who enthusiastically donate their time to New Canaan Library. Friends are always in the forefront assisting New Canaan Library with its daily offerings of programs and services and in its fundraising efforts.  We are committed to ensuring that New Canaan Library remains a valuable resource to New Canaan and our surrounding communities.

Friends Activities
THE NEW CANAAN LIBRARY BOOK SALES are the Friends' principal fund-raising activites. They are made possible by generous book donations from members of the New Canaan and nearby communities, and by volunteer efforts of the Friends of the Library. Proceeds from the two annual sales and the ongoing book sale enable the library to present:

NEXT BOOK SALE: Thursday, May 20th, Silent Auction begins, Book Sale kicks off on Friday, May 21st from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Saturday, May 22nd, 9:00 - 5:00, Sunday, May 23rd, 12:00 - 5:00 and ends Monday, May 24th with bag sales
9:00 - noon, free noon - 2:00.




Typical turnout for a book sale

ART SHOWS throughout the year. Organized by a volunteer art committee, these shows exhibit the works of nationally known, as well as local, artists.

"NOTES IN MID-WINTER" AND OUTDOOR SUMMER CONCERTS feature professional soloists and small chamber ensembles, with occasional ragtime, folk, jazz or band performances. Click here for information on performing here at the Library.

FRIENDS FILM DISCUSSIONS monthly film discussions on contemporary and classic films, actors and directors. Programs are free and open to the public

OTHER FRIENDS-FUNDED PROJECTS have included purchase of library furniture, installation of the Gallery flooring, and support for staff professional development.
