ArtScapades: Dutch and Flemish Masters
ArtScapades, a five-part art lecture program made possible through a sponsorship from the Friends of the New Canaan Library, continues on Monday, February 11, with Part 3: "Dutch and Flemish Masters." The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.
“Dutch and Flemish Masters” will detail how art moved forward, led by the Dutch Realism School of the 17th century, leaving religious themes behind. Works by Rubens, Hals, van Dyck, Rembrandt, and Vermeer are the basis of this lecture.
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades will moderate the series. They began teaching art appreciation in 1998 in the New Canaan public school system. In 2009, they began sharing their knowledge with adults who wanted to learn the basics of art to make museum trips more enjoyable. The New Canaan Library is welcoming them back for a fourth time.
