ArtScapades: Italian, French, and Spanish Masters
ArtScapades, a five-part art lecture program made possible through a sponsorship from the Friends of the New Canaan Library, continues on Monday, March 11, with Part 4: "Italian, French, and Spanish Masters." The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. in the Adrian Lamb Room.
“Italian, French, and Spanish Masters” will explore Baroque art and the ways in which the artists Caravaggio, de La Tour, Lorrain, Poussin, Velazquez, and El Greco injected theatrical realism into their works.
Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman of ArtScapades will moderate the series. They began teaching art appreciation in 1998 in the New Canaan public school system. In 2009, they began sharing their knowledge with adults who wanted to learn the basics of art to make museum trips more enjoyable. The New Canaan Library is welcoming them back for a fourth time.
