Meet Author Suzanne Krauss
Sometimes, what happens in Vegas doesn’t just stay in Vegas. Fairfield County resident and author Suzanne Krauss will visit New Canaan Library on Thursday, May 8, 2014 to speak about her riveting memoir, To Vegas and Back. The event, co-sponsored by Elm Street Books, will be held in the Adrian Lamb Room at 7:00 p.m.
Suzanne Krauss was just three when her mother gave up car pools and brownie baking in suburban Pennsylvania for a much faster – and racier – life in Las Vegas. In 1972, her thirty-two year old mother gets divorced and moves out to Vegas, where she promptly becomes one of the most sought after showgirls in Vegas in order to support her family, when the man who promised her everything dies suddenly. From there the story expands to shine a light on the underbelly of Las Vegas, the challenges of keeping a normal family life for her three children, and the entanglements of then marrying an abusive and alcoholic man. Suzanne Krauss’s insight and resilience shine through in this captivating memoir.
Suzanne Krauss began her career as a junior film publicist in New York City for The Samuel Goldwyn Company. She then moved into magazine publishing for some of the largest brand names in the U.S., including YM and Cosmopolitan. She invented the fashion accessory, Zip-em in 2010 and is currently a marketing consultant. Suzanne lives in Westport with her family.
