Notes in MidWinter Series Concludes with "Banjo Spectacular"

Category: Music
Location: Adrian Lamb Room

The Notes in MidWinter concert series concludes with "Banjo Spectacular," presented by the Cynthia Sayer Jazz Trio.  Members of the trio are Cynthia Sayer, jazz banjo and vocals, Bria Skonberg, trumpet and vocals, and Mike Weatherly, string bass and vocals.

Cynthia Sayer breaks all banjo player stereotypes!  Celebrated as the top 4-string banjoist in the world today and praised for her “drive and virtuosity” by the New York Times, Cynthia’s family-friendly, swing-based show embodies the rarely heard range and versatility of the banjo --- including hot jazz, tango, western swing, roots, virtuoso classics, and more!  Sayer has been a member of Woody Allen’s New Orleans jazz band for more than a decade. She has worked with a variety of jazz and popular artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Bucky Pizzarelli, Marvin Hamlisch and Les Paul, as well as bluegrass/roots/country greats Tony Trischka and John McEuen of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.  More information about Sayer can be found at www.cynthiasayer.com, and about Skonberg at www.briaskonberg.com

The concert series is organized and sponsored by the Music Committee of the Friends of the New Canaan Library, chaired by Wendy Kerner.  Registration is not required, but space is limited and early arrival is recommended.
