The speaker has CANCELLED this program for tonight, May 22, due to illness. We will reschedule.

New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome back travel journalist and travel concierge Susan Farewell. Ms. Farewell is here on Thursday, May 22 to speak about new, enjoyable options in adventurous travel.  Everyone is welcome to join her in the Adrian Lamb Room at 7:00 p.m. to hear about a whole new way to see the world.

Adventure travel used to mean some pretty strenuous agendas - along the lines of trekking across Nepal or roughing it in far-flung places. Today, adventure travel can mean anything from biking on the back roads of Vermont to a guided walking safari in South Africa. Susan Farewell will talk about the many new, more do-able options in adventurous travel for individuals, couples and families.

Susan Farewell is the founder of Farewell Travel, and has a long history as a traveler. Beginning as a child in a family who traveled a great deal she expanded her horizons as a student studying abroad, going on to become a professional travel journalist and writer. Today she has broadened her role as a member of the travel media by adding the role of travel concierge, creating unique trips for her clientele of sophisticated, worldly travelers.

Ms. Farewell is a former travel editor at The Condé Nast Publications; her travel stories have appeared in numerous publications including Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue, Gourmet, Cooking Light, Travel & Leisure, Outside, and Metropolitan Home, among others. She has also contributed to newspapers such as The New York Times and The New York Post, national newsletters and numerous in-flight and regional magazines. She is the author of several travel books including How to Make a Living as a Travel Writer, Hidden New England and Quick Escapes from New York City (the latter two have had multiple editions). Susan is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, the New York Travel Writers, North American Snowsports Journalists and the American Society of Travel Agents.
