1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your child. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (you may repeat books) before your little one starts kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. If you consider that most children start kindergarten at around 5 years of age, you have more time than you think!

The key is perseverance. We will help to make it exciting with our special poster. Each time they reach a milestone, bring your child to the Library to pick up a sticker to fill in their tree!

List the titles or just the number of books you have read. Don’t forget to list books read to your child by others (sitters, teachers, grandparents) and watch the list grow!

Follow the link to the 1000 Books program. If you participated in summer reading this year, you may use the same log-in. Choose the 1000 Books program to get started. Once registered, come into the Library to pick up your special poster and start reading!

Kickoff Celebration & Information Dates

Drop-in to celebrate the kickoff of our 1000 Books before Kindergarten program with a cool dance party! We will be giving out posters & instructions to get you started with your reading!  We will have three dates:
