ARTicipation for Adults: Abstract Expressionism

September 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Location: Plaut Room

Please join us for this in-person art workshop on Monday, September 26th 2-4pm EST.

This program is currently full, please join the waitlist!

ArtScapades is one of our most popular and long-standing annual series, delivering art history lectures on historically important artists, styles, and periods in art. To build on the topics taught in ArtScapades, we introduce ARTicipation, a new series of art workshops inspired by ArtScapades lectures. We highly suggest attending the ArtScapades lecture prior to the workshop for the best experience.

The ARTicipation group will meet at the library and create a personal work in the abstract expressionist style. Artscapades will cover couples of abstract expressionism and four artists…Willem and Elaine de Kooning, and Lee Krasner and her husband, Jackson Pollock on Monday, September 19th.  The following Monday, September 26th, in the library Plaut Room, instructor Jeanne McDonagh of ARTicipation will introduce the group to a abstract expressionist art activity.

About the instructor: Jeanne McDonagh is a digital arts teacher and artist who recently retired from a 32-year career at New Canaan High School where she taught AP Studio Art 2D Design, Photoshop Design, Advanced Digital Media, Intro to Photography, and Documentary Photography. Ms. McDonagh, who considers herself a “lifelong learner,” earned a BA, BS from Saint John’s University and an MFA in Painting and Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In addition to her teaching career, Jeanne McDonagh has exhibited her photography at Mystic Museum of Art, Fairfield Museum, and Carriage Barn Arts Center
