ARTicipation for Adults: Art Noveau & Art Deco

February 16, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please join us for this in-person art workshop on February 16th from 2-4pm.

ArtScapades is one of our most popular and long-standing annual series, delivering art history lectures on historically important artists, styles, and periods in art. To build on the topics taught in ArtScapades, we introduce ARTicipation, a new series of art workshops inspired by ArtScapades lectures. We highly suggest attending the ArtScapades lecture prior to the workshop for the best experience. In this first workshop, attendees will get hands-on-experience creating a portrait in the Art Nouveau/Art Deco Style. The group will use the following visual elements to create their portrait: Decorative and Ornamental Lines, Patterns, Textures, Limited Color Palette and Focal Point. ARTicipation is limited to adults, 18 years and older.

About the instructor: Jeanne McDonagh is a digital arts teacher and artist who recently retired from a 32-year career at New Canaan High School where she taught AP Studio Art 2D Design, Photoshop Design, Advanced Digital Media, Intro to Photography, and Documentary Photography. Ms. McDonagh, who considers herself a “lifelong learner,” earned a BA, BS from Saint John’s University and an MFA in Painting and Graphic Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. In addition to her teaching career, Jeanne McDonagh has exhibited her photography at Mystic Museum of Art, Fairfield Museum, and Carriage Barn Arts Center
