The Art of Post Revolution Mexico: From Los Tres Grandes to Frida

ArtScapades returns to New Canaan Library with a special presentation focusing on Mexican Art.

The Art of Post Revolution Mexico concentrates on artists who were working after the 1910 Mexican Revolution.  It was a period when artists set aside the constraints of colonialism and dictatorship, and began to tell the story of the Mexican people.

PLEASE REGISTER

The life and works of the artists known as Los Tres Grandes, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Diego Rivera will be discussed, as well as that of the infamous Frida Kahlo.  These four artists each traveled to the United States, and included in our discussion will be their reflections on their time in the U.S., as well as the U.S. reception to their art.

ROBIN HOFFMAN and JODI STIFFELMAN, of ArtScapades, began teaching art appreciation in 1998, and have been presenting lectures at New Canaan Library for the past ten years.
