Authors @ NCL: Wilding by Isabella Tree

October 8, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Location: Lamb Room

In Wilding, Isabella Tree tells how she and her husband Charles Burrell rewilded Knepp Estate, their 3500 acre farm in south England. They were losing money on farming and after talking with a variety of experts they decided to take a chance to see if the farm would “go wild”  if they let nature take its course and that the flora and fauna would return. And that’s what happened. “We had no idea Knepp would end up a focal point for today’s most pressing problems: climate change, soil restoration, food quality and security, crop pollination, carbon sequestration, water resources and purification, flood mitigation, animal welfare and human health.”

The editors of Smithsonian Magazine chose the UK edition of Wilding as one of their “10 Best Science Books of 2018.” Tim Flannery reviewed it in The New York Review of Books in May. Last month Roxana Robinson wrote a travel piece in the Washington Post about her visit to Knepp Estate and Forbes chose Wilding as a “Best Book about Climate Change, Conservation, and the Environment” for 2018.
