Book Talk with Laura and Julia Rae in the Curtis Gallery: Sunflower Sisters

November 5, 2021 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location: Curtis Gallery

If you missed the Lit Lunch on Thursday, join Laura and Julia Rae on Friday in the Curtis Gallery to talk about Georgeanna Woolsey, the nurse, Jemma, the conscripted slave, and Ann May-Wilson, the matriarch of the plantation. How do their lives become entwined during the Civil War and is a resolution achieved between all three? Join us and bring your questions. There’s so much to discuss of the historic times depicted in Marth Hall Kelly’s third novel, Sunflower Sisters.

REGISTER for “Book Talk” with Laura and Julia Rae

This is an in-person event.  We strongly suggest the wearing of masks in a gathering of people.

This program supports the Library’s 14th Annual Literary Luncheon Benefit, an event that this year features Martha Hall Kelly, speaking on Sunflower Sisters, her historical novel set in the Civil War years.

Sunflower Sisters

Martha Hall Kelly

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Martha Hall Kelly’s million-copy bestseller Lilac Girls introduced readers to Caroline Ferriday. Now, in Sunflower Sisters, Kelly tells the story of Ferriday’s ancestor Georgeanna Woolsey, a Union nurse during the Civil War whose calling leads her to cross paths with Jemma, a young enslaved girl who is sold off and conscripted into the army, and Anne-May Wilson, a Southern plantation mistress whose husband enlists.
