Med Ed, our popular collaborative lecture series featuring top physicians from Stamford Hospital, returns! We start off the year with a highly informative talk on breast health presented by Stamford Hospital’s Chief of Breast Surgery and Co-Director of Breast Center, Helen A. Pass, M.D. We welcome her via Zoom for this important lecture.

What is the myth and what is the truth? Do antiperspirants and deodorants cause breast cancer? Does your sleeping position have a negative impact on breast health? Most importantly, Dr. Pass will provide a clear synopsis of lifestyle recommendations and facts to promote general breast health awareness. Among the topics she will cover in her visual presentation are the roles genetics, lifestyle choices, exercise and the environment play in breast health, and the facts and questions surrounding mammograms.

Dr. Helen A. Pass is Co-Director, Women’s Breast Center and Chief of Breast Surgery at Stamford Hospital.  She formerly served as the Director of Breast Services, NYP/Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, New York (2005-2012), as well as Chief of the Comprehensive Breast Care Centers at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan and the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann Arbor, Dr. Pass performed her general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center and at Georgetown University Hospital.  She completed a surgical oncology fellowship, as well as served as Senior Investigator at the Surgery Branch of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health.
