Location: Lamb Room

Carl Faberge is best known for his series of 50 Imperial Easter Eggs crafted for the wives of the last two tsars of Russia, Alexander III and Nicholas II. They are considered the absolute pinnacle of the Faberge’s art, fetching many millions at auction. Thousands of objects were produced by the House of Faberge for European Royalty, Eastern monarchs and American elite.  Join us for a discussion with Dr. Géza von Habsburg and learn about the very special relationship between Faberge and the Russian Imperial Family he created his famous Eggs for, as well as the many other clients Faberge worked for and works he produced.

Dr. Géza von Habsburg has a Ph.D. in the History of Art and Archaeology. He was Chairman of Christie’s in Switzerland from 1967 to 1984; of Christie’s Europe from 1980 to 1984; and of Habsburg International Auctions from 1987 to 1991. He lectured for 10 years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and curated traveling Faberge exhibits for several museums and cultural institutions. He is the Curatorial Director at the Faberge Company, where he acts as historian, lecturer, expert for vintage pieces and detecting forgeries. He is the great-great-grandson of Emperor Franz-Joseph of Austria; a grandson of King Frederick Augustus III of Saxony.
