Four Flowers is a beginner embroidery piece created as an introduction to some basic embroidery stitches.  This piece is approximately 3.75” x 3.75” when finished and is stitched on linen fabric. It was created to inspire students to learn about different threads, embroidery stitches and materials.  Stitches include split stitch, star filling stitch, straight stitches, detached chain, backstitch, fly stitch, buttonhole, Japanese ribbon stitch, rosette bud stitch and attaching beads. Materials include linen fabric, cotton threads, needles, silk ribbon, beads, instructions and an embroidery hoop.

Time Frame: 4 – two hour classes (Saturdays: 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27)

KATE FESTO is a lifelong resident of New Canaan, who as a child was taught embroidery by her mother, and has been embroidering ever since. She is a member of the American Needlepoint Guild, the National Embroidery Teachers Association, and the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, (EGA).  She has organized classes and correspondence courses with nationally recognized embroidery teachers for her local EGA group for the past 5 years. She has taught embroidery for the past few years, and earlier this year she passed the EGA’s Teacher Certification Exam, an intense two-year study of embroidery from which she became certified to teach the embroidery techniques involved in silk and metal thread embroidery.
