Participants discover how controlling access to facilities, systems, and information using facial and voice recognition, fingerprint readers, iris and retinal scanners, and hand geometry readers often seen in spy films and TV actually work. They also review basic data security concepts and strategies to protect personal information from misuse and how cryptography and steganography are used to protect (and hide) sensitive information.

The benefits and challenges of using cloud computing for personal data storage are also explained. Participants also attain strategies to protect their personal information from various types of malicious code produced by hackers. In the event of identity theft, participants determine immediate actions to significantly reduce the impact on their credit, government benefits, and tax refunds.

Richard Gunzel is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Secure I.T. Risk Solutions LLC, an IT risk and data protection consulting practice. Richard is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. He has also completed numerous industry sponsored external and corporate provided training in various areas of information technology, data security, and broadband networking.
