Location: Plaut Room

Our 3D printers can be used to transform an idea to a finished object using a 3D modelling software like Tinkercad, an easy-to-use, free browser-based program.  At this workshop, you will get introduced to the basics of 3D modelling and navigating Tinkercad.  Please note that we will not have time to print our designs at this workshop. Participants that have previously taken a 3D certification course can sign up for time to print.  Those new to the 3D printers can sign up for a 3D certification course to learn how they can print.  For ages 8-adult.

Tinkercad is a free browser-based application created by Autocad. Autodesk’s Tinkercad is one of the most popular classroom tools for creating simple designs from scratch, quickly modifying existing designs. It’s a free online 3D design program that you can use in your web browser without downloading any software. Tinkercad is extremely intuitive and easy to use, and has built-in Lessons to help you learn the ropes, making it perfect for beginners both young and old.

The library’s MakerLab has three MakerBot printers and a Lulzbot Mini printer. Check the MakerLab calendar for upcoming training sessions for the MakerBot and Lulzbot printers.
