January 22 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Location: MakerLab

Our 3D printers can be used to transform an idea to a finished object using a 3D modelling software like Tinkercad, an easy-to-use, free browser-based program.  At this workshop, you will get introduced to the basics of 3D modelling and navigating Tinkercad.  We will be working on designing a Minecraft-inspired keychain. Keychains will be printed on our 3d printers; however, due to the time it takes to print, participants will need to pick up their finished keychain at a later time.  For ages 8-adult.

Tinkercad is a free browser-based application created by Autocad. Autodesk’s Tinkercad is one of the most popular classroom tools for creating simple designs from scratch, quickly modifying existing designs. It’s a free online 3D design program that you can use in your web browser without downloading any software. Tinkercad is extremely intuitive and easy to use, and has built-in Lessons to help you learn the ropes, making it perfect for beginners both young and old.

The library’s MakerLab has three MakerBot printers and a Lulzbot Mini printer. Check the MakerLab calendar for upcoming training sessions for the MakerBot and Lulzbot printers.
