How does money change the way we think and feel? “The Emotional Life of Money” explores how human behavior regarding money is triggered by emotion. Beyond being an essential medium of exchange, money carries deep psychological significance. This talk with author Mary Cross will identify common hang-ups and anxieties about money; summarize current academic research on money behavior, discusses behavioral economics and explore the possibility of a cashless digital future.

Mary Cross, PhD, is professor emerita at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ, where she was chair of the English Department. She is author of seven books, including Henry James: The Contingencies of Style; Praeger’s Bloggerati, Twitterati: How Blogs and Twitter Are Transforming Popular Culture; and ABC-CLIO’s 100 People Who Changed 20th-Century Culture.
