Glass House Presents: Landscapes of Modern Architecture (Zoom)

Join us for this live webinar on Monday, October 11th at 7:00 PM EST.

Join architectural/landscape historian Marc Treib for virtual talk on his book Landscapes of Modern Architecture. Treib will explore the interrelationship of modern architecture, landscape, and site strategy as viewed through the work of Frank Lloyd Wright, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra, Alvar Aalto, and Luis Barragán.

Marc Treib, Professor of Architecture Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley, is a historian and critic of landscape and architecture who has published widely on modern and historical subjects in the United States, Japan, and Scandinavia. Recent books include Landscapes of Modern Architecture: Wright, Mies, Neutra, Aalto, Barragán; Austere Gardens; The Landscapes of Georges Descombes: Doing Almost Nothing; and Thinking a Modern Landscape Architecture, West and East: Christopher Tunnard, Sutemi Horiguchi. Published this year are The Aesthetics of Contemporary Planting Design and Serious Fun: The Landscapes of Claude Cormier.

 

Glass House Presents is an ongoing series of talks, performances, and other live events that extend the site’s historic role as a gathering place for artists, architects, and other creative minds. This event is co-hosted by New Canaan Library and supported in part by Connecticut Humanities and the New Canaan Community Foundation.
