August 10 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 3:30 pm, happening 2 times

Location: Children’s Program Room

Join author/illustrator Jason Deeble for a two-day Graphic Novel Writing Camp. Deep dive into character design and page layout, then learn how to plot your story using thumbnails. This program is intended for children entering grades 4-6 in Fall 2022. Please plan to join us both days (3:30-5 p.m. August 10 and 11), as sessions build on each other.

Register here.

Jason Deeble was born in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1979 and began writing and drawing shortly thereafter. He spent most of his childhood reading comic books and playing videogames. The X-Men and Megaman games were especially influential on his young spinning brain. As a result of the relentless hours of heroes and high adventure, his artistic style has always tended toward rounded, mighty little people that populate the realm of the fantastic – squat, swashbuckling superheroes and weird monsters battling it out in strange new worlds. Jason is the creator of the Monster Haiku webcomics, and his first picture book, Sir Ryan’s Quest, was published by Roaring Brook Press. Jason lives with his wife, daughter, and two cats in a cozy Connecticut seaside town. He teaches math and science at a nearby middle school and wears a tie to work every day.

This program is only intended for families with children entering grades 4-6 in Fall 2022.

Beginning Monday, July 18, and through the end of August, our onsite parking lot will be completely closed for this work. The vehicle entrance from South Avenue will be blocked for the entirety of that time. Beginning Wednesday, July 20, the newly widened exit to Cherry Street will become a 2-way driveway available for parking for those with limited mobility ONLY. Free Library parking is available in the Center School Lot across Maple Street, and the pedestrian entrances from Main Street remain open. Pedestrian access from Cherry Street will also be available.
