Hamish Lutris presents I am Become Death, Destroyer of Worlds
October 11, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The 20th Century has seen miracles of technology and theoretical science, and monstrosities as well. Atomic energy, DNA, Artificial intelligence, human cloning, LSD, Eugenics, plastics, computers… the list goes on and on. This presentation will take stock of the scientific currents of the 20th Century and how these have affected man’s outlook in the last 100 years. Included will be the First and Second World Wars, the atomic bomb, science fiction, the anti-scientific movements of the 20th Century, and current issues concerning science, such as the cloning of humans, hygienic issues like the overuse of hand sanitizer and antibiotics, declining water quality, extinction events, environmental decline, and the psychological effect of these issues on society.
