Introduction to Coding Electronics for Grades 5+

February 16, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 7:00 pm, repeating until February 18, 2021

Get started with microcontrollers in this introductory class. Before the first day of class, stop by the library to borrow an Arduino kit. Then, log on to Zoom for a 3-part class to learn how to read a schematic, connect electronic components and program the Arduino to control sensors, lights and servos. We will meet Tuesday-Thursday, February 16-18 from 7-8 each evening. For 5th grade and older.

Arduinos require a Windows, Apple/Mac or Chromebook computer to connect to for coding. You will receive installation instructions prior to the class. A library card is needed to register. If you do not have a library card and would like to register please reach out to us. Arduino kits will be available to pick up February 9-16 and will be due back to the library on March 9.

Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. It’s intended for anyone making interactive projects. Arduino senses the environment by receiving inputs from many sensors, and affects its surroundings by controlling lights, motors, and other actuators. You can tell your Arduino what to do by writing code in the Arduino programming language and using the Arduino development environment.
