Adjunct Professor in Art History Page Knox discusses the life and times of Italian painter Caravaggio:

Criminal, outlaw, pioneer, master: Caravaggio blazed a turbulent trail through his short life, often leaving destruction in his wake.  This Baroque rebel also painted masterpieces with gritty, groundbreaking detail and innovative use of light and shadow. Tracing Caravaggio’s development from his swashbuckling apprentice days in Rome and his creative period in Naples, to his failed quest for absolution in Valletta, Malta, the lecture will focus on some of the breathtaking works that mark key moments in his creative evolution.

PAGE KNOX is an adjunct professor in the Art History Department of Columbia University, where she received her PhD in 2012. She works in a variety of capacities at the Metropolitan Museum of Art giving public gallery talks and lectures in special exhibitions as well as the permanent collection,  teaching classes at the museum, and leading groups for Travel with the Met
