MED ED: Pain Management: Balancing the Risks of Opiates and Exploring Alternative Approaches

Dr. Ofer Wellisch, Chief of the Division of Pain Management at Stamford Health, will discuss opiate addiction; the risk of dependence associated with sports injury, complex dental procedures, and surgery. He will also explore alternative approaches to managing chronic and short term pain. Dr. Wellisch trained in Pain Medicine at The Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, CA. Prior to joining Stamford Health his practice included educating medical students, residents and fellows at Stanford. Dr. Wellisch has published numerous articles and medical reviews on the topic.
