Explore the virtuosity and beauty of the lower sounding instruments of the string family in a one hour program with husband and wife team Suzanne Corey-Sahlin (viola) and Gunnar Sahlin (cello). During this hour you will hear the music of Joseph Russo, Constance Walton, Rebecca Clarke, Walter Piston, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Carlos Gardel.
Suzanne Corey-Sahlin is Principal Violist of Norwalk Symphony and Ridgefield Symphony, where she has performed as soloist. She also plays with the Greenwich Symphony and the Hudson Valley Symphony. Suzanne performed in Gershwin’s, PORGY AND BESS, and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA throughout the United States, Japan and South America. She teaches viola in her private studio in Ridgefield, and at home in Stamford.
Gunnar Sahlin studied at the Academy of Music in Prague, Czechoslovakia. During 1975 -1988 he was a permanent member of the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Sweden. The orchestra appears at the annual Nobel Prize Ceremonies at the Stockholm Concert Hall. In 2003 he became Principal Cellist of Norwalk Symphony Orchestra. Gunnar teaches privately in at home in Stamford.
Gunnar Sahlin is the artistic director and conductor of the Fairfield County Symphony Society, which is open to all adult string players (for more info please see www.fairfieldcountysymphonysociety.org)
