April 21, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Location: Curtis Gallery

Join us for the second of our Artist in Residence 2018 workshops led by artist Alissa Siegal. In this hyperlocal workshop, participants will create bowls from local newspapers and scrap papers as well as local flora and fauna.  We will take a look at how we are surrounded by materials that can be transformed with little or no cost into handmade decorative and unique objects. Appropriate for ages 12+

Alissa Siegal is New Canaan Library’s 2018 Artist in Residence.  Alissa has been a full time artist since 1986, when she received a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She spent several years painting and travelling, then returned to Manhattan to earn an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art. She opened a gallery with artist friends on New York’s lower East Side, and another in St. John, VI. Her work has been widely exhibited across the US and Italy, and is held in many private and corporate collections. After several years travelling and working in the US and Europe, she now lives in Connecticut creating work in her studio and collaborating with clients on commissioned art.
