Known as the War Between the States or the War Between the North and the South, even the War of Brother Against Brother, the conflict which tore the Republic asunder less than a hundred years after its founding is popularly known as . . . the Civil War.

In this four part lecture series, Mark Albertson will unveil the culture, causes, and context of the Civil War.

MARK ALBERTSON is an historical research editor at Army Aviation magazine; and, is the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America.  Mark is a long time member of the United States Naval Institute.  He has authored several books: USS Connecticut:  Constitution State BattleshipThey’ll Have to Follow You!  The Triumph of the Great White Fleet and On History:  A Treatise. Mark teaches history at Norwalk Community College in Norwalk, Connecticut for the Extended Studies Program, World War I. And he teaches for the Lifetime Learners Institute at Norwalk Community College. In May 2005, Mark was presented with a General Assembly Citation by both houses of Congress in Hartford, Connecticut for his efforts in commemorating the centennial of battleship Connecticut.
