January 10 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Location: Lamb Room

While it can be challenging to broach this subject, there are positive ways to approach the issue of keeping older adults safe – and safely – behind the wheel. A panel of professionals will look at the many aspects to consider, including resistance to losing independence, safety on the road and the practicality of getting around, as well as suggestions on facilitating the discussion. Alternative resources, such as Staying Put, GetAbout, grocery delivery, Uber and Meals on Wheels will also be discussed. The panel will be moderated by Kathy Collins, Director of Member Resources, Staying Put in New Canaan, and will include discussions about accident prevention by Leon Krowlikowski (Chief of the New Canaan Police Department), assessing driver capability by Craig Olin, MD (Stamford Health Medical Group) and insurance issues by Tim Brown (of Brown Thayer Shedd Insurance).
