Short Story Meetup: An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge by Ambrose Bierce
July 25, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join us for a four week short story literature discussion series this summer at New Canaan Library. The short story is available for pick-up in the library one week prior to the meet up. Meet to discuss the story for its meanings, messages, themes, and more importantly, how the text sometimes relates or reminds us of our own lives; a stimulating literary atmosphere where those who do not have time for book groups can still enjoy a literary experience.
For those in attendance, the story for the week is copied by the library and given out at the end of each session for the following week.
Carroll Stenson is a Discussion Facilitator leading literature discussion groups for the last fifteen years whose specialty is the Short Story genre. She has a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Yale University and a Master’s degree in English Literature from Southern New Hampshire University. The format for the weekly discussion group is to hand out the particular story (usually less than ten pages) the week before meeting. Carroll has used all the great authors of the Western Canon (e.g. Joyce, Hemingway, Wharton, O.Henry) all of whom were great short story writers as well as novelists.
