Spare Parts Book Discussion
March 12, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Discuss Spare Parts, an amazing and inspiration story with fellow community members and Reader’s Advisor, Laura Cavers.
In 2004 four undocumented Mexican American high school students from Pheonix, AZ went up against some of the best collegiate engineers in the country, including a team from MIT who had been granted $10,000 from ExxonMobil, to building an underwater robot for a prestigious technology competition. The Phoenix teenagers scraped together less than $1000 and built their robot of mostly scavenged parts. This was never a level competition and yet, their machine performed the competition’s obstacle course flawlessly …… and won.
