Summer Writer’s Craft Shop – How Dialogue Aids the Storyline, taught by Julia Strayer

July 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Online

Dialogue in creative writing is more than a conversation between characters; it is a character builder, a plot line mover, and it gives the story a sense of place and setting.  Julia Strayer will demonstrate how dialogue evokes emotions; slang, dialect, inflection and the physical manners of the speaker makes the narrative more active and real.  This class is #3 of a 4 part Writer’s Craft Shop Summer Series. Come ready to write, much of your time together includes in-class writing exercises and discussion.

REGISTER HERE for How Dialogue Aids Storyline class.  (register for each Wednesday evening Craft Shop separately)

The Summer Writer’s Craft Shop at New Canaan Library is a new series of fun and engaging seminars that offer writing experiences for those interested in trying their hand at the writer’s craft. During June and July, writing instructor Julia Strayer will teach four Wednesday evening craft shops on important writing elements necessary for story creation. In addition, author Elon Green, Last Call: The True Story of Love, Lust and Murder in Queer NY, and award winning poet, Shanna Melton, will hold two separate Saturday morning programs to fill out the writer’s repertoire of skills.  Writers of all levels are welcome, and participants may register for all, or a few.
