Summer Writer’s Craft Shop – Learning how to write Flash Fiction, taught by Julia Strayer

July 28 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Online

Join Julia Strayer in this fun class on the new and emerging genre of Flash Fiction. Learn how to condense your 5-page short story to just 500 – 600 words. Included in this session will be a look at which elements should be left in, and which should be cut out, and how to be more descriptive using one word instead of five. This genre is fun to attempt and difficult to execute, but a worthy craft to learn. This class is #4 of a 4 part Writer’s Craft Shop Summer Series. Come ready to write, much of your time together includes in-class writing exercises and discussion.

REGISTER HERE for Learning to write Flash Fiction (register for each Wednesday Craft Shop separately)

The Summer Writer’s Craft Shop at New Canaan Library is a new series of fun and engaging seminars that offer writing experiences for those interested in trying their hand at the writer’s craft. During June and July, writing instructor Julia Strayer will teach four Wednesday evening craft shops on important writing elements necessary for story creation. In addition, author Elon Green, Last Call: The True Story of Love, Lust and Murder in Queer NY, and award winning poet, Shanna Melton, will hold two separate Saturday morning programs to fill out the writer’s repertoire of skills.  Writers of all levels are welcome, and participants may register for all, or a few.
